Get there
- Go to the Control menu in the upper right corner
- Go to the Settings section
- Select CRM and click on Custom Fields
Custom fields are used to add additional information, which allows you to achieve a better classification and organization of your contact list.
Custom fields can be used as filters, and their information can be imported and exported from each of your contacts.
Create and manage custom fields
Create a new custom field
- From Custom fields, click on + Create
- In Name, include a short title to identify the field in the contact dashboard
- In the Type field, select one of the options below
- In the Scope field, choose the type of contact this field will be used for, such as Contacts in general, or more specifically: Person, Company, Customer, Supplier, Deal
Types of custom fields
The following types of custom fields are available:
- Text field: Creates an open field where you can enter only text and numbers
- Number: used to enter numbers and sort contacts
- Date: Used to enter any type of date in the contact
- Select: This field generates a list of options so that you can choose one of them from the contact file
- Radio: This is a multi-option field of different format
- Checkbox: Allows you to select different options within the listed options
It is not necessary to modify the Key field, as it is completed automatically
Add custom fields to a contact
- Go to Contacts to access your contact list
- Click on the contact you want to add the custom field to
- In the side panel, click on the contact's name or click on More
- In the menu on the left, click the Add custom fields button
- In the pop-up window, in the Assign predefined custom fields section, select the field you want to include in the contact
- Enter a value for the added field
- Click Save
Remember that custom fields cannot be included in the documents you create, but you can use them to filter information.
Update the data included in your custom fields
To update or edit the information included in a specific contact:
- Go to Contacts to access your contact list
- Select the contact you want to edit
- Click More
- In the left menu, in the Custom fields section, click Edit
- Modify the necessary information and click Save
Holded also allows you to bulk update all the information you have included in the custom fields for multiple contacts:
- Go to Contacts to access your contact list
- Click on the three-point menu
- Select Update contacts
- Download the import template to modify the information in the custom fields
- Once you have edited the fields in Excel format, reload this document from the option by accessing Update contacts again from the three-point menu
The format of the custom field must match what is specified in the field type, otherwise it cannot be updated correctly.

Export the data included in your custom fields
- Go to Contacts to access your contact list
- Click on the export button next to the text search box
- Select the Excel or PDF option depending on the format you want to export in
Edit custom fields
- Access Custom fields
- Select the custom field you want to edit
- Change the required data
- Press Save
Delete custom fields
- Access Custom fields
- Select the custom field you want to delete
- Press Delete
- Confirm the action
