What is a product attribute?
A product attribute is a characteristic that defines a product or a service. For example, a product attribute could include size, colour, sleeve types or materials. They are ways to differentiate products and the attributes are features of the products.
How to add a product attribute to your products
To start adding attributes to products, you'll need to have the Inventory app enabled from the Holded store. Once you have the inventory app added to your Holded account, follow the next steps:
- Click on Holded Inventory from the grid options > Product attributes
- New attributes > enter a name of the product attribute in the name text box. Please note that this will appear in the products tab so it's best to choose a name that you can easily refer to
- You will then have the option to add the attribute as a text/number value or as a list of options Text/num: If you choose this option, you will be able to enter the values directly when you are assigning attributes to products. This is an open text box, and is convenient for when you don't want to have any limitations on the attributes of products. Options: The Options attribute selection will enable you to have values appear as a list for you to easily choose from when allocating product attributes. This is a great way to control the values that are entered as product attributes and these are only limited to these sets of values. This is also an easy way to select attributes as the list will be available for you to just choose from. To add values for this option, type a word and then press enter. This will enable you to continue to add further values. Once you are happy with the values you've entered, just click Save.
- You will then be able to see the attribute name and if you entered values in the Options field, this will appear below the attribute name.
You are now ready to start creating product attributes and adding attributes to your products!
